Samuel Sterns, known as The Leader, is a Marvel Comics villain who serves as a primary antagonist to the Hulk. He first appeared in Tales to Astonish #62 (December 1964). Sterns was a humble janitor working in a chemical plant.
Accidentally exposed to gamma radiation in the form of chemical X0271, Sterns underwent a dramatic transformation. His intellect was amplified to genius levels, and his skull expanded to accommodate his enhanced brain.
